Fast growing, high-end landscape design/build/maintain firm is seeking an experienced Maintenance Lead with excellent plant knowledge, horticulture, site development, and irrigation experience. Candidates must be proficient performing complex tasks of landscape design, construction, maintenance, irrigation and landscape lighting repair and analysis, advanced pruning and trimming skills. This full-time position is responsible for field level management of crews on individual projects. We request a minimum 3+ years proven history of being a gardener, bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus. Must have excellent communication with fellow staff and be courteous and polite with clients. Must have a clean DMV record for driving company vehicles. Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain indoor and outdoor garden landscapes with high level detail and curate a holistic ecosystem
  • Maintain a productive and aesthetic edible garden, communicate with chef to plant seasonal and desired crops
  • Work with maintenance crew to complete recurring maintenance and new projects
  • Delineate job site responsibilities, tasks, and requirements
  • Identify job site needs and establish plans for completion
  • Installation of required materials for landscaping/irrigation/site development
  • Work closely with maintenance manager to create plant and resource purchasing lists
  • Responsible for crews production rates, quality control and safety
  • Confirm all employees are operating safely at all times and performing general public safety check
  • Safeguard assets from theft and misuse

Skills:

  • High level understanding of plants and how to care for them
  • Knowledge of CA native plants / low water use plants
  • Pest / disease management
  • Irrigation install and repair
  • Detailed eye
  • Ability to lead others and manage crew
  • Effective oral and written communication with clients and fellow staff
  • Bilingual (Spanish)
  • Minimum 3 years construction site experience
  • Work 8+ hours per day with applicable breaks x 5 days/week (some overtime/weekend work required)
  • Ability to work in extreme conditions – temperatures may exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to work in direct sunlight for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. (mulch, fertilizer, etc.)
  • Ability to bend, stoop and twist continuously throughout the day
